Multiplayer

Overview

Multiplayer is a mode planned for Desolation. Up to 6 players can play together in a combination of Collect and Escape mode on one map to attempt to collect all objects, then escape the map. In multiplayer, characters can not be used, and all players will be represented by Noobs with differently colored torsos. Ranks for maps can not be earned in this mode. All players take 75% more damage compared to singleplayer, and no items will spawn.

Gameplay Mechanics

Escape Sequence

After all items are collected, an escape Ring Portal appears somewhere on the map, and players are given 80 seconds to escape the map. The Ring Portal's location is known to all players at all times. For the first 30 seconds of the escape the Ring Portal can not be entered. For the last 50 seconds, it can be entered and players can escape. Players who escape survive, and players who are still on the map are left behind.

Last One Standing

A similar mechanic exists in Singleplayer. For this mechanic, see Final Stand.

Last One Standing is a phase of the game that occurs when one player is left alive, and all other players are dead. A timer will start for 2 minutes, and the escape will spawn when the timer hits 1:20. The escape can be entered at 0:50. When it begins, both the last survivor and the monster are alerted of each other's location for 5 seconds. The objectives no longer need to be completed for victory, but collecting all of them will force the escape to spawn. While the timer counts down, all objects' locations are revealed to the last survivor.

Results

After all players escape or die, the round ends and all players and some statistics will be shown at the end. Players who died will be shown by a red line of blood going through their icon and name. Statistics shown include Objects Found, Chase Time (time actively chased by monster), and Time Survived (this time will be replaced by a green "ESCAPED" label if they escape). Players who are left behind have a gray "LEFT BEHIND" label as their Time Survived. A different song will play on the results screen depending on how many players die. The different conditions are...
